PL What to Expect
A Caring Conversation is a supportive space to talk about what you are experiencing with your animal before, during, or after their physical passing.
These conversations may include:
sharing stories, memories, and experiences
exploring emotions, fears, guilt, or anticipatory grief
talking through difficult or end-of-life decisions, including euthanasia
reflecting on quality-of-life concerns
preparing for goodbye
processing grief and adjustment after a loss
discussing the bond and relationship you share with your animal before and after their death
considering ways to honor your animal through memorials, rituals, cremation, burial, or meaningful belongings
exploring resources or forms of support that may feel helpful
creating space for reflection, support, and compassionate presence
Some people come while actively facing difficult decisions or caregiving challenges, while others seek support after their animal has passed.
Some simply want a caring space to talk openly with someone who understands the depth of the human-animal bond.
There is no set agenda or right or wrong way to use the time. Each conversation unfolds differently depending on what feels most important and supportive in the moment.
My role is to offer compassionate presence, emotional support, and space for reflection as you navigate a deeply personal experience with your animal.
There is no right time.
Some people schedule before their animal passes because they are facing difficult decisions, anticipatory grief, or want support during hospice or end-of-life care.
Others schedule shortly after their animal’s passing or even many years later when grief resurfaces or they realize they never had the opportunity to fully share their story.
Whether it has been one day or decades, your grief and your relationship with your animal matter.
No. A Caring Conversation is not psychotherapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.
I offer compassionate listening, emotional support, and resources from the perspective of someone who understands the profound bond between humans and animals.
If you are experiencing severe depression, trauma, thoughts of self-harm, or need mental health treatment, please contact a licensed mental health professional.
All species are welcome.
People often seek support for dogs and cats, but I also work with those grieving horses, birds, rabbits, reptiles, farm animals, wildlife connections, and other beloved animal companions.
Love and grief are not limited by species.
No.
People from many different backgrounds, beliefs, and spiritual perspectives seek pet loss support.
The most important thing is simply having a space where your relationship with your animal is honored and your grief is respected.
